This session demonstrates how to fix errors in the title field on a title record using LS2 Cataloguing. Whenever you fix errors in the title field, make sure you follow the Guidelines for Entering Information on Title Records.
The first video demonstrates how to fix errors in the title field one title record at a time. The second and third videos demonstrate how to use your Title Space to fix multiple titles records at a time.
1 - Fix Errors in the Title Field One Title Record at a Time |
Videos 2 and 3 (below): Watch Video 2 (Part 1) up until the 3:00 minute mark to learn how to use your Title Space to gather multiple title records that you want to edit - likely for a series of books.
The remainder of Video 2 (Part 1) and all of Video 3 (Part 2) demonstrate editing the title field using a more complex example of Manga titles in a series. NOTE: It is NOT necessary to do this, and it can be a lot of work given how many Manga titles there are in series. So, you can just watch these videos IF you want to fix up a more complex series of titles, such as Manga. Otherwise, you can skip these two videos after the 3:00 minute mark of Part 1.
2 - Use Your Title Space to Edit More Complex Title Fields in Multiple Records - Part 1 | 3 - Use Your Title Space to Edit More Complex Title Fields in Multiple Records - Part 2 |
1. Go to your Launch Page and log into LS2 Cataloguing. Use the same login you use for LS2 Staff (mrpm\firstname_lastname).
2. Find several books in your library that have errors in the title field. If you have not fixed up your Harry Potter titles to reflect the series (as outlined in the guidelines), then those are a good option to start with. Practice fixing the errors in the title field following the instructions in the first video (one title record at a time).
3. Following the instructions in this video, and the instructions in the videos above, do an Advanced Search using the parameters Location and Title to see if you have any records with the term No title in the title field. If you do have multiple records with No title in the title field, add those records to your Title Space. Then go to your Title Space and fix the errors in the title field. NOTE 1: Not all schools have multiple records with No title in the title field. NOTE 2: Once you Republish a title record, the record is automatically removed from your Title Space. If you want to keep it in your Title Space for further work, then Save as Draft.
